To keep your experience smooth and enjoyable, here’s everything you need to know about bookings, payments, cancellations, and what to expect onboard.

By booking with Sailing Scallywag Ltd, you confirm that you have read and agreed to the terms below.

1. Booking & Deposits

Your booking is secured once we receive:

  • Your booking details
  • A 50% non‑refundable deposit (or full payment if within 30 days)
Deposits
  • A 50% non‑refundable deposit is required for all sailing tuition, skippered charters, and sailing services.
Final Balance
  • Remaining balance is due 30 days before your booking
  • Bookings made within 30 days require full payment at the time of booking
2. Cancellations & Refunds
If you cancel
  • More than 30 days before: refund minus your non‑refundable deposit
  • Less than 14 days before: no refund available
If we need to cancel

We may cancel or postpone due to:

  • Unsafe weather
  • Mechanical issues
  • Skipper/instructor illness
  • Unforeseen safety concerns

If so, you can choose:

  • A full refund, or
  • A new date that suits you


Note: We cannot refund travel or accommodation costs.

3. Weather Policy

Your safety comes first. If conditions are unsuitable for sailing, we will:

  • Offer a rescheduled date, or
  • Provide a credit note or partial refund, depending on the situation
4. Insurance
Your insurance

We strongly recommend:

  • Travel insurance
  • Cover for sailing/water-based activities
Our insurance

We hold:

  • Public liability insurance
  • Professional indemnity cover
5. Participant Requirements

By booking, you confirm that:

  • You are physically able to take part
  • You will follow all safety instructions
  • You have disclosed any relevant medical conditions in advance
6. Payment Methods

We accept:

  • Bank transfer
  • Major debit and credit cards

All payments must clear before your trip begins.

7. Onboard Terms
Safety briefing

All guests must take part in a pre‑departure safety briefing covering:

  • Lifejackets
  • Emergency procedures
  • Deck safety
Skipper’s authority

The skipper has final say on:

  • Weather decisions
  • Routes
  • Departure and return timings
  • Onboard behaviour
Health & fitness

Please ensure you are fit to participate and disclose any conditions beforehand.


Weather, Tides & Itineraries
  • Destinations and timings may change due to weather or sea conditions
  • Plans may be adjusted for safety or comfort
  • We cannot accept liability for any costs or disappointment caused by weather‑related changes

Behaviour

The skipper may refuse boarding or end a trip if behaviour risks safety or disrupts others.

Alcohol & substances
  • Moderate alcohol is allowed when anchored or alongside
  • Illegal substances are strictly prohibited
Personal property

We cannot accept responsibility for loss or damage to personal belongings.

8. What to Bring
  • Comfortable outdoor clothing
  • Waterproof layers
  • Soft-soled shoes
  • Personal medication


Soft bags only
– no hard suitcases or framed luggage.

9. Training, Mileage & Qualifications
  • Logbooks will be signed only for skills and miles genuinely achieved
  • Training is supportive, but progress depends on your ability and the day’s conditions
10. Photography & Media
  • Guests may take photos and videos for personal use
  • We may take informal photos for marketing
  • Just let us know if you prefer not to be included
11. Feedback & Complaints

If anything isn’t right:

  • Speak with your skipper during your trip, or

12. Mooring Fee Responsibility

Clients are responsible for all mooring fees at each marina during their stay.

Mooring costs typically range from £30–£50 per night, depending on the season, marina location, and the facilities available.
