Each trip is tailored around your personal goals, whether you’re working toward RYA qualifications, preparing for bigger adventures, or simply wanting to challenge yourself in real‑world sailing conditions.

Our calm, professional instructors bring extensive experience across monohulls, catamarans, classic vessels, and working boats, ensuring every mile is safe, purposeful, and enjoyable.

Example Itinerary

Start/End: River Hamble
Area: Solent & English Channel
Miles: 120–180 NM
Focus: Night hours • Pilotage • Tidal planning • Offshore confidence

Day 1: Friday Evening: Hamble → Weymouth (Overnight)

  • Arrive between 16:00–17:00 for a warm welcome, safety briefing, and passage planning session.


Evening Departure (18:00–20:00)

  • Leave the Hamble and head into the Solent
  • Navigate shipping lanes
  • Pass The Needles at dusk or after dark
  • Settle into rotating watch systems


Arrival:
 Late night / early morning into Weymouth
Distance: ~50–60 NM

 

Day 2: Saturday: Weymouth → Poole → Night Sail

Morning

  • Rest, breakfast ashore, short debrief.


Midday Sail to Poole (25 NM)

  • Coastal navigation via Lulworth Cove & Durdle Door
  • Pilotage into Poole’s narrow tidal entrance


Evening & Night Passage (40–60 NM)

    • Depart before sunset
    • Sail east along the Channel
    • Night pilotage into Portsmouth or Chichester

Day 3: Sunday: Eastern Solent → Hamble

  • Early departure after a short rest
  • Final passage through the Solent
  • Possible pass‑by of Cowes
  • Return to Hamble mid‑afternoon


Distance:
 ~20–30 NM

Typical Weekend Outcomes

  • Miles logged: 120–180 NM
  • Night hours: 8–14+
  • Ports visited: 2–4
  • Tidal gates covered: The Needles, Poole Entrance, Solent streams
